The Grundy County Housing Authority currently provides homes at three locations:  Saratoga Tower in Morris; Gardner Village Commons; and Mazon Park Place.

 

Saratoga Tower is a 7 story high rise building, with 95 one bedroom apartments.  A preference is given to current low income Grundy County residents who are either age 62 or older, or who are people with disabilities.  Residents pay 30% of their adjusted household income as rent.  Utilities included with rent are: water, sewer, natural gas, and garbage pick up.  Residents are responsible for their own electricity bill, and receive an annually updated allowance for the cost of this utility, based on the average consumption per unit as determined by the Grundy County Housing Authority.  Telephone, television, and high speed internet service is available to residents for an additional cost.  Amenities of the property include: on site laundry facilities, a library with books, games, puzzles, computers and high speed internet access.  Residents have substantial volunteer opportunities to participate in an elected Resident Council, gardening, and more.

 

Gardner Village Commons is located in Gardner, IL, and is comprised of 3 one story buildings, with 4 one bedroom apartments in each building.  In order to live at Gardner Village Commons residents must be age 55 or older.  A preference is given to those who are current Grundy County residents.  A below market rate rent is set at a standard amount by the Grundy County Housing Authority annually.

 

Mazon Park Place is located in Mazon, IL, and is comprised of 5 one story buildings, with 4 one bedroom apartments in each building.  There is also a community center with a kitchen, computers, and big screen television.  The development is in a beautiful location next to a village park.  In order to live at Mazon Park Place residents must be age 55 or older.  A preference is given to those who are current Grundy County residents.  Below market rate rents are set based on resident incomes and at a standard amount by the Grundy County Housing Authority annually.

Grundy-Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.  Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
